My Reading Classroom

The proven system that turns reluctant readers

into kids who beg to read — without sacrificing a single standard.

Stop teaching the standards

and teach kids to love reading.

Every single teacher in My Reading Classroom made a decision that most teachers never make. They decided that"good enough" was not good enough for their kids.

If you are reading this page, you are already that kind of teacher.

The only question is whether you act on it today.

Everything is done for you.

There is nothing left for you to do but sit back and enjoy being everyone's favorite reading teacher.

It meets the standards and is curated to ensure children love it.

No more late nights on Pinterest or TPT looking for reading activities.

This system and all the curriculum included have been built, tested, and packaged just for you.

It took me 30 years to create. You get it in one click.

Every year you wait is a year a child decides reading is not for them.

When you enroll in My Reading Classroom,

you will not need to:

  • Spend your weekends building units from scratch

  • Hunt through Pinterest for comprehension activities that may or may not work

  • Wonder if what you are teaching is actually hitting the standards

  • Spend oodles of dollars on TPT to buy a novel unit that may or may not work

  • Pretend you teach speaking and listening standards

  • Start over every time your district changes direction

  • Buy a spearate curriculum for every grade level

  • Figure out how to make vocabulary engaging on your own

  • Guess which books are worth teaching and which ones will fall flat

  • Search YouTube or spam Facebook groups for tutorials on incorporating books into your class

Four pillars. One complete system.

My Reading Classroom is built around four pillars that research and 30 years of classroom experience prove actually move the needle for grades 3, 4, and 5.

When these four pillars work together, something shifts.

Kids stop dreading reading time. They start asking for more.

"But what about the standards? Will this actually cover what my kids need to know?"

Yes. Absolutely yes.

Every novel study, every Reader's Theater script, every vocabulary activity in My Reading Classroom is built on the same skills and standards you are already required to teach.
Comprehension strategies, vocabulary in context, inferencing, literary analysis, and nonfiction reading. It is all there.
PLUS- you are teaching the listening and speaking standards without even trying.

This is not a "fun instead of rigorous" approach. It is a "rigorous because it is engaging" approach. When kids care about what they are reading, they do the hard cognitive work of actually thinking about it. That is where real learning happens.

This is built EXACTLY for you. Whether you've been teaching one year or twenty- this is for you

If you are new, the video training walks you through every single piece of the system so you always know what you are doing and why. You are not dropped into a folder of resources and left to figure it out. Kim teaches you how to use every element before she hands it to you.

If you are a veteran making the switch, the curriculum maps and novel studies give you a concrete, organized roadmap. You do not have to start from scratch. You just have to follow the plan.

Hi. I'm Kim.

I spent 25 plus years in brick-and-mortar classrooms — private school, public school, upper elementary — and I built a very specific reputation in every school I taught in.

Parents would fight to get their kids into my class. Not because I was easy. Because I was the teacher who figured out how to make kids love reading.

Kids who had declared themselves non-readers would finish a novel and immediately ask what we were reading next. It happened over and over, for 30 years.

Now I teach online through The Young Scholar Academy, and I have spent years distilling everything I know into a system that any teacher or homeschooling parent can follow. It is not magic. It is not a personality thing. It is a method.

I am not AI. My scripts are not AI. You are getting 30 years of real classroom experience from someone who genuinely cares whether your kids end up loving books.

Still have questions? We have answers.

Will this cover my state reading standards?

Yes. Every novel study, Reader's Theater script, and vocabulary activity is built on the skills and standards you are required to teach for grades 3 through 5. Comprehension, vocabulary in context, literary analysis, nonfiction reading — it is all there. This is rigorous instruction delivered through engaging books, not a replacement for academic rigor.

How much time does it take to implement each week?

My Reading classroom is designed to fit inside whatever schedule and time constraints you have. Novel studies can be adapted to any time frame, as can Reader's Theatre. The goal is a system that fits your life, not one that adds more to your plate.

I teach 4th grade. Do I get the 3rd and 5th grade materials too?

Yes. You get all three grade levels in full — every novel study, every curriculum map, all of it. Mix, match, and differentiate as much as you need. If you loop grades or have a wide range of readers, this is especially useful. You may choose to teach the materials assigned to both 3rd and 5th grades. They are all interchangable!

I am a brand new teacher, and I feel totally overwhelmed. Is this still for me?

That is exactly who this is designed for. Kim starts with a mindset shift and a complete overview before she teaches you anything else. Every module includes video training so you never feel dropped into a pile of resources without guidance. And you can email Kim directly with questions — she promises to respond.

I am a homeschooling parent, not a teacher. Is this still right for me?

Yes. There is a specific welcome module inside the course just for homeschooling parents. Kim walks you through exactly how to adapt the system for a home setting — how to pace the curriculum, how to run Reader's Theater with one child, and how to use the novel studies without a full classroom. You do not need a teaching degree to use this well.

My school just told me to switch to novel-based instruction. How fast can I get up and running?

Very fast. The curriculum maps tell you how to plan your year. The novel studies are built and ready. The Reader's Theater scripts are formatted and ready to print. You can be fully oriented and planning your first week within a few hours of enrolling.

What is your refund policy?

Due to the nature of digital products, there are no refunds. However, this is one of the reasons I have priced the system so reasonably. Even if you only choose to use some of the materials, you are still getting over $200 worth of printable materials for a much lower price.

How do I access the course after I enroll?

You will receive an email with login instructions immediately after purchase. The course is hosted on my Young Scholar Academy platform, and you will have lifetime access.

My administration wants us to follow Science of Reading philosophy. Does this work?

Yes — and here is why that matters.

The Science of Reading is a body of research that identifies what actually works when teaching kids to read. It is built on five core pillars: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Most of the conversation around Science of Reading focuses on early elementary phonics instruction. But for grades 3 through 5, the research is clear: once kids can decode, the work shifts to building vocabulary, deepening comprehension, and developing fluency — which is exactly what My Reading Classroom is designed to do.

What if I haven't read these books?

No problem! You can read them as you teach them! All the answer keys are provided, so no worries! I often love to read a book along with the students. You get to give honest predictions and thoughts.

Do all students need their own copy of the novel?

It is best if students have their own copy. However, I understand school budgets! That is why I give you access to my own Young Scholar Academy audiobooks. All you have to do is send me an email requesting the link to the audiobook playlist for that novel, and I'll send it your way!

I work on a team of 3 teachers. Can I share the novel studies and other products with them so we can all use the system?

No. When you purchase the My Reading Classroom, it is a one-user license. If your teammates would like to use these products, they have two choices: 1-Buy the course for themselves. 2- go to my TPT store and buy the products...but it would be WAY more expensive.
